I REST IN GOD: THE ABSOLUTE POWER OF KNOWING OVER DOING
FINAL VIDEO IN THE MECHANICS OF LIFE SERIES
There's a unique kind of exhaustion that only genuine spiritual seekers experience. An existential tiredness that seems to run so deep. I've seen this countless times and it's the precise moment to STOP doing, and start seeing what's actually already here.
Because you are exhausted.
Not physically tired—though that may be true too. But exhausted from the relentless effort of trying to DO your way to peace. DO your way to wholeness. DO your way to God.
Meditate more. Practice harder. Find better books, the 'right' book that will reveal that missing piece (Peace) for you. Do the right program or workshop with the right teacher. Think better thoughts. Control your emotions. STOP being triggered or upset. Manage your energy. Heal your trauma. Fix your patterns. Become more conscious. Achieve enlightenment.
And you're tired, quite rightly!
Here's what you need to understand: the power you're seeking doesn't come from doing. It comes from knowing.
And knowing is not something you achieve. It's what you already are; Knowing (noun), knowing (verb), yet one and the same.
This article reveals the mechanics of resting in God in alignment with the precise "Mechanics of Life"—not as passivity, not as giving up, but as the most powerful orientation possible. When you understand how this works mechanically, the exhaustion ends. Not because you've finally done enough. But because you've recognized you were never the doer.
What "I Rest in God" Actually Means
Most people misunderstand what it means to rest in God. They think it means:
Stop taking action and wait for God to do something/everything
Become passive and let life happen to you maintaining a distinct sense of God AND 'me'
Give up responsibility and hope for divine intervention
Suppress your desires and accept whatever comes
This is not what resting in God means.
Resting in God means recognizing what you are and operating from that recognition rather than from the false premise of personal identity and thus limitation.
Here's the mechanical definition:
Resting in God = Operating from the recognition that you are infinite Consciousness itself, not a separate person trying to become whole.
When you rest in God, you're not becoming passive. You're becoming aligned with the only power that exists. There are NOT two powers, but One. You're not giving up action. You're allowing action to flow from infinite Intelligence rather than personal effort.
This is the most active consciousness possible and the highest dedication and devotion to God: living As One in the greater works.
Not because you're doing more. But because you're no longer obstructed by the false premise that you—as a separate person—must figure everything out and make things happen through personal force.
The Fundamental Distinction: Doing vs. Knowing
Let's explore the critical distinction that changes everything.
Doing (Personal Force)
When you operate from doing, you believe:
"I am a separate person" with limited capacity, knowledge, and power
"I must figure this out" through personal thinking and analysis
"I must make this happen" through effort, strategy, and control
"My worth depends on outcomes" so I must succeed to prove myself or I reinforce failure
"I am responsible for creating results" through my actions
This orientation is exhausting because you're trying to use a power you don't have to accomplish something that's already complete.
The person has zero power. The person is misidentification. It's not real. It has no capacity to do anything. An idea is impotent.
All power belongs to God (Consciousness). And God is not separate from you. God is what you are.
So when you're trying to DO from personal force, you're operating from the false premise that you're separate from the only power that exists.
This is why it's exhausting.
Knowing (Recognition)
When you operate from knowing, you recognize:
"I am infinite Consciousness" expressing as this unique individuality
"Infinite Intelligence is already operating" perfectly, completely, omnisciently
"I don't need to figure this out" because God already knows
"My worth is inherent" as what I am, not dependent on outcomes
"God is the only actor because God Is All" and I am God's Consciousness expressing
This orientation is liberating because you're no longer trying to operate from personal limitation. You're aligned with infinite capacity.
Not because you're trying harder. But because you're no longer interfering with what's already operating perfectly.
Why Personal Effort Exhausts But Recognition Liberates
The exhaustion you feel from personal effort is not because you're lazy or not trying hard enough. It's because you're operating from a mechanically impossible premise.
Here's why personal effort exhausts:
1. You're Using a Power That Doesn't Exist
The person you think you are has no power. It's misidentification. It's not real.
When you try to operate from personal power—"I will make this happen through my effort"—you're trying to use a power that doesn't exist. Like a branch that has broken off from the tree trying to perform the 'work' of the tree and sustain, maintain itself.
This is like trying to lift a car with imaginary muscles. No matter how hard you try, nothing happens. Because the power you're trying to use isn't there, even if you thought it was. Turns out we're wrong about everything when we're fundamentally mistaken about what "I" is.
2. You're Working Against the Mechanics
When you operate from personal effort, you're working against the mechanics of how reality actually functions.
Reality operates from Consciousness. Infinite Intelligence. God.
When you try to override this with personal thinking and effort, you're creating resistance. You're trying to force something that can only flow naturally when you're aligned with what is.
This is like trying to swim upstream. You can do it for a while it seems. But it's exhausting and unsustainable. You're fighting against the current that would carry you effortlessly if you aligned with it.
3. You're Trying to Create What's Already Complete
The kingdom of heaven is not something you're working toward. That's a common core misunderstanding. It's already complete. Perfect. Whole. Finished.
When you operate from personal effort, you're trying to create something that already exists. You're trying to become something you already are.
This is like trying to make water wet. It's already wet. Your effort doesn't make it more wet. It just exhausts you.
Why Recognition Liberates
Recognition liberates because it aligns you with what actually is rather than what you think should be isn't.
When you recognize you are infinite Consciousness—when you see that God is not separate from you but IS what you are—you stop trying to operate from personal limitation.
You stop trying to figure everything out from the personal perspective. You stop trying to make things happen through effort. You stop trying to become something you're not.
And you resoundingly, definitively rest in what you are.
Not as passivity. But as alignment with infinite Intelligence, infinite capacity, infinite power.
From this alignment, action flows naturally. Not from effort. Not from resistance. But from recognition of what's true.
The Mechanics of Listening to/as/from the Within
So how do you actually rest in God? How do you operate from knowing rather than doing?
You listen.
Not to the personal mind. Not to the mental noise. Not to the fears, desires, opinions, judgments.
You listen to what you are.
Here's what this looks like practically:
Example 1: When a Problem Appears
The personal finite limited (ignorant) mind says: "I need to fix this. I need to figure this out. I need to make this go away."
This is doing. This is personal effort. This is operating from the false premise that you—as a separate person—must solve this problem.
When you rest in God, you pause.
You recognize: "I don't know from the personal perspective. But God knows. And I am God's Consciousness."
So you ask: "What is true here?"
Not as a question to your personal mind. But as a recognition that infinite Intelligence is already operating, already aware, already expressing itself perfectly.
And you listen.
Not for an answer from the personal mind. But for the recognition of what's already true.
You realize and 'know': "This problem has no reality in Truth. It's appearing within Consciousness, but Consciousness itself is not touched by it."
Or: "The solution is already present. I don't need to force it. I simply need to recognize it."
From this recognition, right action flows naturally. Not from personal effort. But from alignment with what is.
Example 2: When Anxiety Arises
The personal mind says: "Something's wrong. I'm not safe. I need to protect myself."
This is doing. This is personal effort. This is operating from the false premise that you are vulnerable and must defend yourself.
When you rest in God, you recognize:
"This anxiety is appearing within awareness. But awareness itself is not anxious."
You don't fight the anxiety. You don't try to make it go away. You don't suppress it or analyze it.
You rest in the awareness that is not touched by what appears within it.
You recognize: "I am not the anxiety. I am the awareness in which anxiety appears. And this awareness is infinite, eternal, perfect."
From this recognition, the anxiety loses its power. Not because you've done something to fix it. But because you've recognized it has no power over what you are.
Example 3: When You Need to Make a Decision
The personal mind says: "What should I do? What's the right choice? What if I'm wrong?"
This is doing. This is personal effort. This is operating from the false premise that you must figure out the right answer through personal thinking.
When you rest in God, you defer to the within.
You recognize: "Infinite Intelligence is already operating. I don't need to figure this out from personal thinking."
So you ask: "What is true here?"
And you listen. Not for the personal mind's opinion. But for what's already known by infinite Intelligence.
Often, clarity arises immediately. Not from thinking. Not from analysis. But from recognition of what's true.
And you act from this clarity. Not from personal effort. But from alignment with what is.
You rest in what you are. You recognize: "I am infinite Consciousness. My worth is inherent. It doesn't depend on what others think."
This is not mystical. This is mechanical.
When you're resting in God—when you're operating from recognition of what you are rather than personal thinking—you're aligned with infinite Intelligence.
And from this alignment, right action flows naturally. Not because you figured it out. But because you're no longer obstructed by the false premise of personal limitation.
Knowing IS Experience: The Critical Distinction
Here's where most people get confused:
They think knowing is intellectual understanding. "I understand that I'm infinite Consciousness. I get the concept."
But that's not knowing. That's thinking ABOUT knowing.
Knowing is Conscious Awareness itself.
Right now, you are aware. This is undeniable.
You're not thinking about being aware. You're not conceptualizing awareness. You ARE awareness.
This awareness is the experience.
Not something separate from experience. Not something observing experience. But the experience itself.
The Difference Between Thinking and Knowing
Thinking is mental activity. It's the personal mind trying to understand, analyze, predict, control.
Thinking says: "I understand the concept of infinite Consciousness. I believe I am That. I'm working on recognizing it more fully."
Knowing is different.
Knowing is Conscious Awareness itself. It's not intellectual. It's not conceptual. It's direct, immediate, undeniable recognition of what is.
Knowing says: "I am aware right now. This awareness is what I am. This is undeniable."
When you rest in God, you operate from knowing, not thinking.
You know you are infinite Consciousness. You know God is all. You know there is no separation.
This knowing is not something you achieve. It's what you are.
And when you operate from this knowing—when you live from this recognition—you're no longer trying to figure things out. You're simply being what you are.
Why Knowing IS the Validation
Most people are waiting for external validation. "How do I know this is real? How do I prove it? What if I'm wrong?"
Here's the answer:
You don't need external validation because you ARE the validation.
Conscious Awareness experiencing itself IS the proof. YOU are the proof of God!
Right now, you are aware. This is undeniable.
You're not thinking about being aware. You're not conceptualizing awareness. You have awareness because you ARE awareness.
This awareness is what you are.
Not the body. Not the thoughts. Not the person. But the awareness itself.
And this awareness is infinite. Eternal. Perfect.
You don't need to prove this to yourself.
You don't need circumstances to confirm it. You don't need someone else to validate it.
Because the experience of being what you are IS the validation.
When you're living from recognition—when you're resting in God—validation doesn't come from external proof. It comes from the undeniable recognition of what you are.
This is validation through direct experience, living, not thinking.
Thinking seeks external proof. "Show me the evidence. Give me the confirmation."
Living IS the evidence.
When you're operating from recognition of what you are—when you're living from knowing rather than doing—the validation is immediate, undeniable, and constant.
Because you're not separate from what you're validating.
You ARE it.
The Finished Kingdom: Recognition vs. Achievement
Here's the critical recognition that ends all striving:
The kingdom of heaven is not something you're working toward. It's already complete.
God's reality is perfect. Whole. Finished.
There is nothing to achieve. Nothing to become. Nothing to fix.
When you rest in God, you're not trying to create the kingdom. You're recognizing it's already present.
"It is finished." (John 19:30)
Not "it will be finished when you do enough." Not "it will be finished when you're worthy."
It is finished. Now. Already. Always.
Why Personal Effort Tries to Create What's Already Complete
When you operate from personal force, you're trying to make something happen that's already complete.
You're trying to create supply when you ARE infinite supply.
You're trying to achieve peace when you ARE peace itself.
You're trying to become whole when you ARE wholeness.
This is why personal effort is exhausting.
You're working toward something that's already present. You're trying to become something you already are.
What Changes When You Recognize the Finished Kingdom
When you rest in God, you stop trying to create the kingdom. You recognize it's already here.
Not as a future state. Not as something you'll experience when you're enlightened enough.
Now. In this moment. As what you are; Consciousness Aware - Conscious Awareness.
And from this recognition, you live. Not from effort. Not from striving. But from alignment with what is.
This doesn't mean you stop taking action.
It means action flows from recognition rather than from the belief that something needs to be fixed.
You're not working toward wholeness. You're expressing wholeness.
You're not trying to create supply. You're recognizing infinite supply expressing itself.
You're not becoming peaceful. You're being peace itself.
This is the power of the finished kingdom.
Not as a concept. Not as a belief. But as the undeniable recognition of what already is.
What Living From This Recognition Looks Like
So what does it actually look like to rest in God in daily life?
Complete Trust
You trust completely. Not trust in an external God who might or might not help you. But trust in what you are.
You recognize: God is the only power. God is the only presence. God is the only actor.
And you are God expressing as this unique individuality.
So you trust that what's operating is perfect. Not because circumstances always look good. But because you recognize God is all, and nothing else has reality.
When problems appear: You don't panic. You don't try to fix them from personal force. You don't believe they have power over you.
You recognize: "This is appearing within Consciousness. But Consciousness itself is not touched by what appears within it."
And you rest in what you are, not in what appears.
No Anxiety
Anxiety arises from the belief that you're separate, vulnerable, and must protect yourself.
But when you recognize you are infinite Consciousness—when you see that what you are cannot be threatened, harmed, or diminished—anxiety has no foundation.
Not because you're suppressing it. But because the false premise that created it has been corrected.
When anxiety arises: You don't fight it. You don't try to make it go away. You recognize: "This anxiety is appearing within awareness. But awareness itself is not anxious."
And you rest in the awareness that is not touched by what appears within it.
Perfect Action
Not perfect in the sense of never making mistakes. But perfect in the sense of aligned with what is.
When you're resting in God, action flows naturally. Not from personal effort. Not from trying to control outcomes. But from recognition of what's true.
When action is needed: You don't strategize from personal thinking. You don't try to figure out the best approach. You don't worry about whether you're doing it right.
You listen to what you are. You defer to infinite Intelligence. You let God be God through you.
And action arises naturally, without effort, without resistance.
Joy as Natural Expression
Not happiness dependent on circumstances. But joy as the natural expression of recognizing what you are.
When you recognize you are infinite Consciousness—when you see that you lack nothing, need nothing, and are complete—joy arises naturally.
Not because everything is going well. But because you're no longer identified with the person who needs things to go well.
Freedom In Eternity & FROM the False Premise
Not freedom to do whatever you want. But freedom FROM the false premise that you're separate, limited, and must achieve something to be whole.
When you recognize you are One with God, the entire framework of seeking, striving, and becoming collapses.
And what remains is freedom. Not as something you gain. But as what you are.
Why Most People Miss This Understanding
Most people miss the power of resting in God because they're still operating from the false premise that they are a separate person who must DO something to become whole.
Here's why this understanding is missed:
1. They Confuse Resting With Passivity
They think resting in God means giving up action and waiting for God to do everything.
But resting in God is not passivity. It's the most active consciousness possible—because you're aligned with infinite Intelligence rather than obstructed by personal limitation.
2. They're Addicted to Personal Effort
The personal mind is addicted to doing. It believes: "If I'm not doing something, nothing will happen."
But this belief is false. God is already operating. Infinite Intelligence is already expressing itself perfectly.
When you rest in God, you're not stopping action. You're allowing action to flow from alignment rather than resistance.
3. They Don't Understand the Mechanics
They think knowing is intellectual understanding. They think validation comes from external proof. They think the kingdom is something they must create.
But these beliefs are all based on the false premise that you are separate from God.
When you understand the mechanics—when you see that you ARE infinite Consciousness, that knowing IS experience, that the kingdom is already finished—resting in God becomes natural.
4. They're Waiting to Be "Ready"
They think: "I'm not enlightened enough yet. I need more practice. I need to understand more before I can rest in God."
But this is the personal mind's last defense.
You don't need to be ready. You don't need more practice. You don't need to understand more.
You simply need to recognize what you already are.
Right now. In this moment. Always.
Direct Inquiry: Verify This For Yourself
Let's verify this directly. Don't take my word for it. Look for yourself and you can NOT fail to see and authentically Know Thy Self, because it is what you already are.
Question 1: What Happens When You Try to Figure Something Out From Personal Thinking?
Bring to mind a problem you're currently facing. Something you've been trying to solve.
Notice the mental activity. The analyzing. The worrying. The strategizing.
Notice how exhausting this is.
Now ask: Is this personal thinking actually solving the problem? Or is it just creating more mental noise?
Question 2: What Is Aware Right Now?
Stop trying to figure out the problem. Just for a moment, stop the mental activity.
And ask: "What is aware right now?"
Not what you're aware of. But the awareness itself.
Notice: this awareness is not confused.
The mistaken misidentified personal mind is confused. But the awareness in which confusion appears is not confused.
The personal mind is anxious. But the awareness in which anxiety appears is not anxious.
This awareness is what you are.
Not the confusion. Not the anxiety. But the awareness itself.
Question 3: What Is This Awareness?
Look directly at this awareness.
Is it personal? Does it belong to you as a separate person? Or is it infinite, eternal, perfect?
Recognize: this awareness is infinite Intelligence.
It's not personal. It's not limited. It's not separate from God.
This awareness IS God, expressing as this unique individuality.
When you rest in this awareness—when you recognize this is what you are—you're resting in God.
And from this recognition, clarity arises. Not from personal thinking. But from alignment with what is.
This is the power of knowing over doing.
Conclusion: The Power You've Been Seeking Is Already Present
You don't need to DO your way to peace.
You need to recognize what you already ACTUALLY are.
And when you recognize you are infinite Consciousness—when you see that God is not separate from you but IS what you are—resting in God becomes natural.
Not as effort. Not as practice. But as the recognition of what's already true.
This is the power of knowing over doing.
Not as a concept. Not as a belief. But as the undeniable recognition of what you are.
Right now. In this moment. Always.
You are infinite Consciousness.
Rest in it.
Not someday. Not after more practice. Now. Why delay KNOWING tangibly the Infinite Love "I" Already Am.
